History
The
Colton Cemetery, which was platted in Clinton Township, is nonexistant.
The location of the cemetery indicates it was platted on what is now a
part of the Kauffman farm. The legal description is as follows: Commencing at a point 19 15/100 Chs. North and 58/00 Chs. East from the 1/4 1/4 cor on South line of W. W. 1/4 Sect 17 Town 38 North Range 4 East of 3rd P. M. and running thence Ease 5.00 Chs. to a granite stone 16 x 8 x 10 thence North 2.00 Chs. to a granite stone 10 x 8 x 6 thence West 5.00 Chains thence South to the place of beginning containing one acre of land, angles 90° and that the above plat is a correct copy of my field notes of said survey. Given under my hand this 2nd day of August A. D. 1875. Shubael T. Armstrong, County Surveyor No. 6720 Filed for record March 31st A. D. 1879 and recorded in book B of Plats, page 29. |
