This is a list of individuals who served in the Civil War
and made contact in one way or another with the Dekalb County Clerk.
These papers may be receipts, enlistment papers, discharge papers, or a
general correspondence of some other sort. This interesting
lot was saved from being destroyed only because the Dekalb County Clerk died
in office and his desk full of papers were stored
away and lost for many years. Some of the papers are written in the hand of
the soldier and may even include his signature.
The papers in this collection are stored in envelopes and
kept secure in the Joiner History Room Archives. If you find a relative's
name among this list, you can inquire of the type of papers relating to
that person by email or send a written request for copies.
