The Kirkland Historical Society was organized on October 10, 2007.  The mission of the Society is to stimulate interest in the Kirkland area history through research, education, collection and preservation.

In July 2007 a historical play, Kirkland: Then and Now, was presented commemorating Kirkland's 125th birthday.  Copies of the play's DVD and script are housed and are available for purchase in the Kirkland Public Library.  Proceeds from the play were use for initial society acquisitions.
